Sonoma County has a 12-month allergy season – including tree pollens in the winter and spring, grass pollens in the summer, and mold in the spring and fall. Effective allergy treatment is best begun before one’s allergy season is in full bloom - yet, can be initiated with benefits at any time. I prescribe acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Formula both before and during one’s allergy season to significantly reduce symptoms and improve vitality.
General OTC (Over the Counter) Guidelines
Saline Nasal Irrigations: use 2-4X daily to clean the sinus and reduce inflammation. "Netti Pots" are great, and “Ocean Spray”, sold in drug stores, is easy to carry in your pocket.
An Air Purification System reduces allergy “load” and improve rest. Try to maintain a "clean" room in your house, preferable the bedroom, that is free of pollens, pets, mold, dust, and other irritants.
A Restricted Diet increases vitality and reduces reactivity to other allergens . Eat cooked and raw vegetables, seasonal fruit, some nuts, and legumes, whole grains (brown rice). Avoid dairy and wheat, and limit simple carbohydrates, sugar, and animal protein. Use of the “liver flush”, and detoxification with UltraclearTM may further reduce allergies.
